Coastal Welcome: Enhancing the Arrival Experience
For La Pacifique Apartments, situated directly opposite Burleigh Heads beach, the arrival sequence via the lifts and foyers presented an opportunity to reinforce the building's prime coastal identity. Burleigh Beach Designs collaborated with the Body Corporate and specialist lift contractors to develop and implement a comprehensive refurbishment strategy for these high-traffic common areas.
Design Response: Materiality & Atmosphere
The design intent focused on creating a welcoming and sophisticated first impression that immediately evokes a sense of being 'at the beach'. This was achieved through a carefully curated material and graphic palette.

Natural wood grains were introduced in lift lobby wall linings and within the lift cars themselves, providing tactile warmth and a connection to nature. Complementing the timber, large-scale graphic panels featuring coastal imagery were integrated into the lift car interiors, creating an immersive visual experience during vertical transit. Considered lighting design further enhances the atmosphere in both the lift cars and foyers.
The result is a cohesive and contextually relevant design that elevates the everyday experience for residents and leaves a positive, lasting impression on guests, reflecting the unique character of Burleigh Heads.
