Enhancing Coastal Living: Amenity Upgrade Concept
Commissioned by the Body Corporate, Burleigh Beach Designs developed this design concept for upgrading the outdoor amenities at the iconic Burleigh Beach Tower. Situated directly opposite Burleigh Heads Beach, the proposal aimed to enhance the resident and guest experience by creating more functional, private, and aesthetically refined communal spaces, including the pool area, BBQ facilities, and connecting walkways.
Design Response: Context, Privacy & Permeability
The core objective was to increase the usability and privacy of the pool deck while embracing the prime coastal location. Our design drew inspiration from the natural palette and textures of the nearby Burleigh Heads National Park, proposing materials such as natural granite, stone, and timber to create a robust yet warm aesthetic suited to the beachfront environment.
New covered structures for the pool area and walkway were conceived with forms that allow penetration of natural sunlight and capture cooling sea breezes, balancing the need for shelter with a connection to the outdoors.
The redesigned BBQ area provides a dedicated, functional space for social gatherings. Throughout the design, careful consideration was given to screening and landscape elements to enhance privacy without sacrificing the sense of openness desired in a coastal setting.
This concept illustrates our approach to enhancing existing multi-residential buildings, focusing on improving resident amenity, responding to the unique environmental context, and increasing the overall value and appeal of the property through thoughtful architectural design.
